Short answers before the vehicle arrives.
Accurate service information reduces failed appointments, misunderstood inspections and repair approvals that are not ready to proceed.
Requests and authorization
What happens between the form, inspection, estimate and repair.
Does an online request book an appointment?
No. The shop checks the vehicle, requested work and schedule before offering an appointment time.
What vehicles do you normally accept?
Our normal program includes passenger vehicles, SUVs, vans and selected light trucks. Large, modified, specialty, dually or unusual vehicles need an acceptance decision based on shop capacity.
Will you start added work without asking?
The repair path and estimate are explained before additional work is authorized. Complex jobs may use separate diagnosis, confirmation and repair stages.
Diagnosis and estimates
Why testing matters before parts are ordered.
Why does diagnosis have a separate charge?
Diagnosis is the testing and reasoning used to identify the likely fault and repair path. It is different from reading a code, looking at a symptom or completing the repair itself.
Can Standard give a final price from a phone description?
Routine services may be straightforward, but condition, product compatibility, seized hardware, previous work and additional testing can change the operation. Complex work is often estimated in stages with a separate approval point.
Can I ask for a second opinion?
Yes. Bring the earlier information as background. Standard still performs the inspection or diagnostic work it is being asked to complete before accepting another shop conclusion as fact.
Wheel alignment
Vehicle acceptance, reports and rebuilt vehicle boundaries.
When should alignment be considered?
After related steering or suspension work, a pothole or curb impact, with uneven tire wear, when the steering wheel is not centred or when a body shop file needs measurements.
Can Standard align classic or modified vehicles?
Classic, antique, muscle and modified vehicles are assessed individually. Rack capacity, wheel attachment, ride height, adjustment hardware and usable specifications must all support the job.
Does an alignment report prove structural integrity?
No. It records wheel geometry measurements. It does not replace frame gauging, structural inspection or a Body Integrity Inspection Certificate.
MPI and Manitoba answers
Inspection (COI), MPI Mechanical Claim Work and Rebuilt Vehicle Support are the three MPI service pathways. MPI Winter Tire Program financing is separate. Body Integrity certification is handled by a licensed station.
Can a COI tell me whether the engine and transmission are good?
No. A Manitoba COI covers the applicable basic safety standards at the time of inspection. A broader mechanical or pre purchase inspection is a separate service.
Parts and maintenance
Product ownership, installation acceptance and long term service.
Will Standard install a customer supplied part?
Selected parts may be accepted after checking the exact application, condition, completeness and procedure. The customer manages product defects, returns and seller warranty. Standard covers its authorized installation workmanship.
Why can missing hardware change the labour estimate?
The estimate is based on the complete kit and known procedure. Missing parts, previous modifications, seized fasteners, wiring changes or new programming requirements can create a separate scope that needs approval.
Is oil and filter service open to everyone?
No. It remains available only to approved members. Existing approved members or selected established customers may request it, with eligibility confirmed before booking. New public membership enrolment remains under review.
